I HEREBY beg to announce that it la my intention to to nominated for the hoaonrablo position of MAYOR of this City for tho ensuing year, and in doing so, I trust that the Electors will kindly take into consideration my usual independent and unbiassed conduct in all matters that hare come before the City Council. I may state that in December, 1877, after five years* service to the cllisens, I vacated tho Council, and in Sept., 1878, at the annual election of Councillors, by tho request of 110 doctors’ names being handed to mo, I, in accordance with their wishes, allowed my soil to be nominated for election against seven other candidates, and had tho honour of being returned ai a now member by a majority of 360, tho result of tho poll being Gapes 1293, Wilson 932, Ayers 667, thereby placing me in tho position of senior mem her, which justifies tho privilege of my again soliciting tho favour of your consideration.
