[Reuter’s Telegrams.] MELBOURNE. March 18. , Mr David Syme, the proprietor of the Melbourne Age, has instituted an action against the proprietors of the Melbourne Punch for libel. The damages are laid at £SOOO. A meeting has been held here, at which it was resolved to form a Company for the purpose of exporting every description of food under the freezing process. An influential Committee has been formed. . ® A telegram has been received'from the Mauritius, dated March 9, which states that suitable sugars are scarce. ' Arrived—Rotorua from New Zealand, and steamship Durham from Plymouth. ; She sailed on Jan. 26. .■■■■. SYDNEY, March 18. The steamer Chandernagore arrived here after landing a party at New Ireland. It is understood that two steamers with 1000 adventurers mil' follow shortly from Rome mid Barcelona. The original prospectors of the expedition state that it, is their intention to appropriate North Western Australia. The following further Exhibition .awards are announced ; Biscuits : Messrs Griffiths (Wellington), Grant (Thames), and Renton (Dunedin), all .second prizes. Confectionery: Mr •Griffiths, Wellington, first; Mr Walters, Auckland, second. Chicory; Trent Bros., Christchurch, first. Groats; Mr Magill, Otago, first. Sailed—Wakatipu, yesterday, for Wellington. -
