The rain yesterday put a a stop to nearly all work with the shipping- disohargirg at the various wharves. ; _. The Urion Steamship Company’s Eingarooma, Captain Chatfield. from Sydney, Auckland, and Wellington arrived in harbour yesterday, having left Wellington at 3.30 p.m. on Monday. She sailed for Melbourne via south at 4 30 p.m. The Examiner for Greymouth, and Croydon lass, for Nelson, cleared yesterday. The s.s. Taiaroa, Captain Pietersen, arrived at 8.30 p.m. yesterday from Akaroa and Port Chalmers. Cleared Dunedin bar at 4.20 p.m. on Monday had fresh north-east wind to Akaroa, with smooth sea, arrived within about half a length from the wharf st 9.30 a.m., got alongside about 12.10 p.m. Discharged 40 tons of cargo, and took 15 tons, and left at 3.35. Thence thick we ither, raining hard to arrival. The Taiaroa will leave to-day, on arrival of the 2.40p.m. train. PORT OP LYTTELTON. Auckland, Jan. 13. Arrived—Schooner Mary Anderson, from Samoa. While on a labour cruise, and working round Capa Cumberland, A. Pentecost became mad, and killed two Natives, and wounded a boy. As he was armed, and attempted the lives of those on board, of the ship’s crew named Peter Fabrions, a native who had been to Queensland, took a rifle and shot him. An inquiry into the above (affair took place at Apia, Samoa, before Mr S wanton, DeputyHigh Commissioner, and the master and crew were acquitted, the act being regarded as justifiable homicide. Arrived—Eotorus, and sailed for Bussell. New Plymouth, Jam. 13. The s.s. Wellington, with the Ban Francisco moil, arrived at 4.30 this morning, and proceeded direct to Wellington at 5.30. She takes the following passengers from here: —Misses Sunley (2), Major Brown (Native Commissioner), the Eev M'Niooll, Miss Bayley, Messrs George, Clarke, and Bishop. „ T Wellington, Jan. 13.
