Mr Andre* Turnbull io the’ Chair, The Hon See., Mr Egan, read the balance* sheet showing receipts for the year to be £748.6s 6d, leaving a deficit of £3B 2s, Against this deficit there were still outstanding sub* scriptiohs amounting to £162 ‘ls. It. some notice were not taken of this there was no knowing in what position the Club might find itself. (Hear, hear.) He thought a rule should be added that if members did not pay up •by a certain time they should be treated as defaulters, and their names' removed'from the list'. 1
Mr J. T. Ford moved, and Mr Mitton seconded—“ That all : those members who have hot paid their subscriptions be written to by the Secretary* and informed that if they do not pay their annual subscription* by Nov. 30 they will be struck off the roll.” Mr Hamereley said that was just what these men wanted, and suggested posting them up. Mr Ford objected. Posting was not legal when the Club hadno rules ; besides, let them remember the circumstances under which the Club was formed; all the members wore not admitted in a regular way. Mr Hamereley moved as an amendment—- “ That all who have not paid should be written to, and in the event of their not paying should be posted up at Warner’s, Christchurch; tne Grosvenbr, Timaraj Soyal, Camara; and the Club, Dunedin.” The matter was put to the vote, with the result for Mr Ford’* motion, 15; for Mr Hamersley’s amendment, 8. The motion was carried. Mr Turnbull was re-elected President, and Mr J. T. Ford was elected Vice-President.
It was resolved to hold the next meeting at Timaru on May 24, The feeling of the Club Was in favour of the next annual steeplechase meeting being held in Dunedin, but Mr Egan stated that the Dunedin Jockey Club would not forego the holding of their meeting on that day.
