RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL AND THE MANDEVILLE AND RANGIORA ROAD BOARD.
The financial difficulties between these two local bodies were yesterday settled satisfactorily by Mr J. Ollivier. The matter had been referred to the Commissioner of Audit for settlement, who referred the matter to Mr J. Ollivier, and at'2 p.m. yesterday that gentleman attended at the Road Board office, Bangiora, and was met by Mr Parsons (chairman) and Messrs Duncan, Sansom, and Stalker, members of the Board, with Mr Taaffe, the clerk; and the Mayor, Councillors Robinson and Johnston, with their Town Clerk, Mr 0. G. Chapman. After examining the accounts in dispute between the two parties, and obtaining the necessary information, which: occupied some time, Mr Ollivier made' the’foUbwing-awardj which appeared to five satisfaction to all parties, and which will e acted upon as soon as the accounts are made up by the Board;— “In the inquiry into the matters in dispute between the Mandeville and Bangiora Bead. Board and the Borough Council of Bangiora, T,. have considered-, the ..various points brought.uudcr my notice, arid award that the. Borough Council is entitled to receive onoTflfth of the balance of revenue as shown upon the account submitted to me, and which I have signed; half a year’s subsidy on rates still due; Bonk interest on current account for amount retained since August, 1878, at,6 per cent, per annum; onefifth share of the impounded land fund; and further, that the Borough Council shall bear one-fifth of the judgments and costs incurred in Hewling’s and Bassingthwaite’s cases, including also Mr Joyit’s costs. “J.
