PERSONAL STATISTICS.
A Mr James Campbell writes to the Melbourne Argus : Sir, —The following from the Auslralisohe Zeitung regarding the Gorman Imperial Parliament is so very curious,; humourous; and original in the way of stati(- ; tieol returns, that I nave taken the trouble to translate it for the amusement of yourself and readers!—
“We regard it ns our duty," says the Zeitung, “to place before the eyes of our honoured readers the result of our circular to the member* df the Imperial Parliament concerning their personal appearance, likings, and habits-'-a statistical return worthy of the, heartiest thanks. Among the members of Parliament there are 87 lean and 95 fat gentlemen t the balance average size. I 82 representatives ore toll, 89 little, 130 middle height i 133 rejoice in a full growth of hair on the face, the others shave more or loss. Further 1 , we notice that 76 have full beards, ; 46 are clean shaven, . 94 have moustaches, 61 1 ore adorned with mutton-chop whiskers, 39; with a * democratic"’ , beard; and" 66 onset i a military out j 162 ! members are , more • or loss grey, 50 have blonde, the rest; partly - brown , and partly black , hair j j 81 wear . spectacles; 5a carry double and 82. sitigle eye-glasses. The manner of living of our honoured representatives is difficult to get at, but wo have 25 vegetarians, 31 toa-sippers, 179 famous connoisseurs of wine, 83 epicures, and
