Cohen) arrived by the express on Saturday evening, together with Mr E. Fowler- As some sunrise has been expressed at the absence of Mr W. E. Leach’s name from our foam, It may- be mentioned that he found himself unable toplay, otherwise he would -of oourse have been included in the Eleven. The match commences on the Hagley Park-around this ’ morning, and will be; continued on Tuesday and Wednesday/ No admission can be charged, but it will be left as usual to the generosity of the visitors to deposit the customary smiling in the bag at the gates.

ASSOCIATION MATCH. Nobxh r. South.

Neilson and Skelton, the not oats of the previous-Saturday, resumed their places at the wickets; Skelton soon retired, bowled by Ashby, without adding to hit previous score. Harman joined Neilson, and played in good style for his 19, when he was bowleq by Ashby. Neilson ran up 31 in very quick - time, when Moore got one past. Beard made 7. Turner being not out 0; and the innings closed for 167. M> The North were quickly m the breach | Ashby and Gorfe started at a very lively rate—two’s, three’s, and four’s ooming _in quick succession. Six bowlers were tried; but with very little success. At last Ashby put one up off Hamilton, and on the appeal waa given out. His 75 was made in grand style, and on bis return to the pavilion he received much applause. Ashby only gave one chance, and that a difficult one to long leg, when he had made 65. Moore Kned Gorfe, who was keeping his wickets up, t not showing anything like his usual form; but after making 1, ran himself out. J. Fowler partnered Gorfe and played out time: the score-book showing 168 runs for two wickets. The bowling of the South was good at times, but not good enough by a long way for lutorprovinoial form; and as three of the bowlers are chosen to play against Otago, it is to be hoped they will' show much bettor form, or we may find ourselves pushed 'very hard towards the finish of the match. The following is the continuation of the score:—
