DUNEDIN BACKS. [fix Teibqbafh.] [PEOM OJTB OWE COBEBSPONDKST.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 8. The weather having improved, work has been resumed at the Forbury, some good gallops having been done on Friday; but these were missed, owing to being taken at different hours of the day. I was out on Saturday morning and saw most of the horses now here, but owing to the previous day’s doings not one was stripped except Blue Peter, whom M'Gregor sent a strong gallop three times round, finishing fast. Nnmea ana Boadicea did walking exercise. Arthur Smith had out Cloth of Gold, Dead Heat, Benjiroo, Sir James, Vampire, and Swede. The first five had a smart canter once round, all moving well, and Cloth of Gold and Vampire were especially fresh, as far as could be judged of them in their clothing. The lot are getting into good condition, but Dead Heat had a suspicious-looking bandage on his off fore-leg. Boiardo and the Champagne colt Messengham, by Cassivalaunns out of Envy, were to be out later. Goodman gave Chancellor, York, and Lampooner a gallop, and the Yattondon oolt a canter only. Cotton’s pair, King Philip and Kildare, had walking exercise, and Sam Mercer traded Te Kooti and Tommy similarly. All the work done on the course was outside the hurdles, which is in very fair condition. The Gab is laying down fresh tan on the tan gallop, and the whole ground will then be in good trim.
