For Akaroa—Wanaka, Jan. 25, The American ship Alexander M'Neil, hence, reached Newcastle on Jan. 6. The barque Ares, that left here for Melbourne to load for London, completed her loading on Jan. 13. The sailing of the s.s. Southern Cross for Napier is postponed until Saturday. Mr Geo. Mackay advertises the schooner Croydon Lass to sail for Nelson in a few days. The Waikato will be berthed inside the ship Hydaspes at the Gladstone Pier this morning. The Eeward finished loading at her berth at the Tunnel Wharf yesterday afternoon. The berth was at once taken by the Maud Graham. The Florence has commenced loading for Home, and last evening had some 1600 sacks of wheat aboard. She has not, however, got clear of all her coals yet. The Marlborough is all out with the exception of 300 tons of steel rails. The Hurunui put out the rails for the Christchurch street tramway yesterday. She has now about 290 tons of cement and heavy stuff aboard, and is taking in stiffening. The loading of the Opawa and Hydaspes is proceeding very favourably, and both ships will get

away at their advertised dates. The Mary Blair was berthed at Peacock’s Wharf yesterday afternoon, in the berth lately occupied by the Especidador, that vessel being all out. The Amelia was clear of her timber yesterday, and her berth at the Tunnel Wharf will be taken by the Helen Angier. The W. C. Wentworth having put out all her piles and timl er at the No. 4 Wharf, will be hauled off to make room for the Acacia this morning. The C. 8. Bushnell having landed her cargo and finished ballasting, will be towed out into the stream to-day. The Union Company’s steamship Albion, Captain Tozer, left Melbourne at 3.15 p.m. on Jan. 14; cleared Port Philip Heads at 7 p.m.; passed Wilson's Promontory at 4.20 a.m., and Swan Island at 4.45 p.m. next day. Had light variable winds and fine weather to passing the Solanders at 10.45 a.m. Jan. 19, then fresh nor'.west winds with occasional rain to reaching the Bluff, at 5 p.m. Left there at 6 p.m. Jan. 20; reached Port Chalmers at 6 a.m. Jan. 21; landed cargo, &c., and started again at 4 p.m.; passed through Otago Heads at 4.30 p.m., and arrived alongside the wharf at 10.40 a.m. yesterday. Had fine clear weather and smooth sea up the coast. Tue Albion landed 34 passengers and 40 tons of cargo, and having embarked passengers for the North, sailed for Wellington,
