HEATHCOTE VALLEY SCHOOL.
On Saturday last the friends of the children of the above mentioned district gave them a very substantial treat, whiob the children seemed to enjoy very much, although the weather was almost unbearably hot. In Itbe evening the following children received prizes, adjudged chiefly according to the number of marks received daring the previous year. Olaea I—Martha Weir 1. D. Dale 2; history: W. Martin; sewing: Margaret Prendergast; Bible history : (by the Master) T. Weir 1. Class lll—Job Qilmonr 1, Margaret Cutties 2, Fanny Perkins 3, Clara Flavell 4. Sewing*. Annie Prendergast. • * Class IV—W. Cnrtles, Colie Flavell, A. Jerviss. B, Williams, James Gilmour, Sarah Martin. Connie Class «a. Bartley, Hannah Dixon. Mary Lucas, Mary Cutties: sewing: H. Dixon. Class Vl—Katie GUmour, Charles Flavell, Susan Perkins, Michael Prendergast. Close Vll—Janet Martin, Albert Weir, W. M'Dowell, Nellie Lucas, and F, Donnelly, Extra prizes presented by the Mistress, Miss Sinclair—(sewing), Annie M'Dowell, and Sarah M'Dowell, Bible History; Connie Dunlop, and Bobert Weir general progress. ... , Prizes were given to the following for regular at•tendance;—N. Dunlop, B.Dnnlep,B. Martin, Sarah M'Dowell, Connie Dunlop, A. Newton, T. Weir, W. M'Dowell. James M'Dowell, Sarah Martin. The first (our hod not been absent onoe the whole year, and the others from one to five days. Tbo Ohairman, Mr W. Dunlop, remarked that he thought there was not a school in the province where so many regular scholars could be found.
