Public Companies. ABRIDGED PROSPECTUS OP THE CANTERBURY BUILDING SOCIETY (Peemaneht). Incorporated under the " Building Societies' Act. 1878.” Provisional Directors—A. Garrick, Jamee Goes, J. V. Boss, P. Laurie, 8. Hanning, B. W. England, A. W. Money, E. 8. Harley, John Anderson, Junr, J. 0. Frankish, M.D., E. Sutherland, T. L. LaimS, Geo. Maokay, W. Badoliffe, A. J. White. . „ „ . , Bankers—The National Bonk of New Zealand. Solicitor—H. H. Longhnan. Manager—B. J. T. ford. Offices—Hereford street, Christchurch (next door to Messrs Miles, Hassal and Co). Shakes £lO Each. Polly paid-up Shares—To be paid in one sum. Subscription Shores—Monthly subscription, 2s 6d. THE Provisional Directors are of opinion that the continued prosperity and rapid growth of this Provincial District affords ample room for the operations of another Building Society in addition to those already established, which have met with suoh great success, and the youngest of which has now been in operation for five years, whilst the last of the terminating societies will soon expire. In the constitution of this Society several new and important features have been incorporated which mil . commend themselves to investors and borrowers generally. Folly paid-up shares will be issued, on which interest at the rate of 7t per cent per annum will be payable half-yearly, and in addition, they will receive an equitable share of the' profits after each investigation of the society's affairs. Subscription shares will reach their ultimate value in about one-half the time provided for by other societies. This advantage will recommend itself to those who have hesitated to undertake the responsibility of making monthly payments for so long a period as sine or 10 years. , , Loans will be granted for periods of from 1 to 12 years, and every facility will be given for the eonversion, at any time, of subscription into 1 nlly paidup shares without cost to shareholders. The value of the shares having been fixed at £lO, with the other advantages offered, will undoubtedly have the effect of rendering the society's shares readily saleable in the open market, and also of makihg them peculiarly advantageous to borrowers. All shares will, however, be withdrawable at a month’s notice. Shareholders may enter at any time without payment of hack subscriptions. 606 WANGANUI STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY (LIMITED).
