Shey bould not complain. The M. 0.0.0. and CoJlMe much seems likely to end in an easy »i& foe £he Oub, whs tooted 108, and about without the lotp. of a wicket, Hlilop 30 and holdout 10, Bra^ ; n fund ' { Wf Hdirhe* 10 and hdt ouklS,; being the imogt prominent scorers. The Collegians only totalled 48, in whioh BortonelO- was the only donblefiguro otmtribution. The D. 00.0. matto,Lawyers an<f Merchants, v Beet of the Club ie ao far in favour of the former, for whom H. 8 Smith sl, Peter 18, Vf. Million 15, and E, Cooke nop out 14, tooted freely,' the total being 118, The Club realised a total of 61, W. Ootterill 17, and E. Ootterill 13, being the. only ones who gave any trouble. The scores of these two matohes.will be given in full when they are finished, ’ . i' j .

The various matches commenced lost Saturday will bo continued on Saturday next at 2 p.m. . ' , . TJ.O.OJO. Y. M. 0.00.

Ollivier and Sweet were the respective captains. The former won ; the toss; and after, a minute survey of tha wicket decided to take the field. Watson and Austin opened the M. 0.0.0. batting, being opposed by Frith and Ashby,' who were unchanged throughout the innings. The innings needs very little comment, scattered wickets being-the order of the day, as the following will show s—One for 8, two and three for 18, four for S 3, five for 40, six for 48, seven foe 63, eight for 57, nine for 62 and ten for 67. J. Fowler alone proved able to cope with the superior trundling, and his soore of 21 was put together in a manner which is all the more creditable to him, when the fact that he is totally out of practice is taken into consideration. Frith’s analysis is worthy of being quoted—lß oven and 4 balls, 9 maidens, 19 runs, and 7-wickets. Ashby also bowled well, bat, as usual,-without luck. Morrison. Cor fe, and Ollivier eaoh made a one-handed “ gallery ’’ catoh, which “ brought down the house.” ' ' ,

The UOO.O, were first represented by Alington and Qadby t .Foller.and Sweet having charge of the early M. 0.0.0. bowling. Wjlh the score at 9, a good one from Fuller sent Alington back to the Pavilion, much to the deligatof thoMO.O.O.oupporters. WhenOorfe joined Qodby, a change soon came o’er the scene, and the field men were let in for aa nice an afternoon's leather hunting ae anyone could not wish for, . The bowling was changed and re-changed, but without effect, and it waft not until the sooro etobd at, 184 that a separation was brought about, -by Sweet -getting God by 1 b.w. with a " Yorker." The retiring batsman played cricket of the highest order, and well deserved his rune. • His 59 included one 6, one 4, six B’s, Seven 2*e,&o. Moore then osme to Oorfa’s assistance, and the two played on till-time was called, being not out with 75 and II respectively. Oorfe’s innings was far from being one of his best. His hitting was severe, but was characterised by great wildness at times, as well as an inclination to pull offballe round to long-on. (. With a little belter judgment- on the part pi-, Horner, he should nave been secured before he had mode double figures. His long -score was comprised of two Ss, two 4s, seven Bs, seven 2s, &o. The M. 0.0.0. bowling, with the exception of B. Fowler’s, endian over now and then from Fuller, was of very loose quality, and well deserved the pounding it received. The fielding was good on both sides, and the M. 0.0.0. men are specially deserving of'mention for the plucky manner in which they fielded under such adverse circumstances., Subjoined is the score, together with the bowling analysis: M.O.C.C.— First Innings.' ■

LAWYERS' MATCH. A match was played da the Association ground on Friday, between the office of Meters Haumer and Harper and the rest of the solicitors of Christchurch. As it was unfinished, the -victory was, claimed by the former on the first inning#. In their first attempt neither sidoimado any great display, the respective totals being 35 and 28. For Hanmer and Harper, H. Ootterill eras not out H, the only doable figure in either innings. In the second infiingepf the United Lawyers, Izard and Loughnan knocked up 33 and 26 in a lew minutes, though early in his innings the former gave a very easy chance, wl.v'b was declined. Hill made 20 by extremely steady play. The total was IC6. In the second innings of their opponents W. Millton and Whitdombe ware not oat for 10 and 2 ■ respectively, fire wickets altogether being down for 48- rons. Qodby, who made 59 on the following day, as above, scored 2 and 6 only in this match. , ST CRISPIN'S T. BUNNYSIDB. This match was played pa Saturday at the ffunnyside ground. The local team made a vbry poor show, as chiefly through the destructive agency of W. Frith their scores in both innings amgnnted only to 21 and 37. _Bt Crispin's did not ,dp much better, but with the'assistance of 23 from Skelton tbdy put together 58 which was sufficient to beat their adversaries in an innings with 10 to spire. . HAEEWOOD ROAD r. NORMAL SCHOOL. A matoh aneleven from the. Hare* wood and the second eleven of the Normal Bohool was played in North Hegley Park on Saturday. The latter scored; 89 in their .only innings, •to which 0.0. Howard contributed 12, Wilkinson 40 not out, and the extras |6i ; Theiropponent* only adhiefed the small totals of 88 and 37, being consequently beaten by an innings and SO runs. No one obtained double figures. EANGIOEA. A match was played on Saturday after* noonbetwoeh the first eleven of this chib and 22pthub, ,Mr Horse captained tl>e former, and- Mr Good <the latter.
