Tha Beacleucli, schooner, deued the Customs for Dunedin yesterday afternoon. Tha barques Mary Ann Anxuson and Island City left Newcastle for this port on Feb. 22. The ship City of Dunedin, which was in Lyttelton some months ago, reached Bombay from Newcastle on Jan. 4. Tho as. The brigantine Cleopatra having finished loading for Dunedin, er Wiltshire, cleared the Customs yesterday, and hauled off inti the stream. The brig Drover, Captain Stevens, left Kaipara on March L She bad light winds and calms until panning Cape Egmont on hue day, then westerly winds to Cape Campbell, which was passed on Monday afternoon. Northerly winds prevailed thence to the Eaikotms, after which variable winds were experienced until arrival yesterday, when the brig anchored off the breakwater. The Colonial Goverment steamship Stella, Captain Johnson, left Wellington at 5.45 p.m. on Wednesday, had light head winds and cross sea down the oaost, arriving in Lyttelton at 1 p.m. yesterday. The Stella brought the Canterbury prize-firing representatives from Hokitika, ebe has come down on lighthouse service, and leaves for South at 9 a.m. to-day. The Stella proceeds trom here to Aksroa, where surveys will be made for a road to the lighthouse to be erected there. From thence the Stella will go to Dunedin. The Island City, barque, with Captain Williams in command, arrived from Newcastle yesterday, with a large cargo of coaL She left Newcastle at 6 p.m. on Feb. 22, with a light north-east wind, winch held all tho way across. Capa Farewell was sighted on Sunday last, the barque being in company with H.M.S. Sappho. Sighted Stevens’ island at 10 a.m., when a heavy easterly blow was encountered, lasting for several hours. Cape Campbell was parsed at noon on Monday, with the wind at north-east, and the Peninsula was sighted on Tuesday ; from thence variable winds were experienced to arrival in harbour at 4 p.m. yesterday. Messrs M’Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s steamship Arawata, Captain Underwood, arrived yesterday. from Melbourne, via the Bluff and Port I Chalmers, baring made the distance in six days 18 hours, including stoppages. From Mr Miller, her purser, whom we have to thank tor delivery of files, we learn that the Arawata left Hobson’s Bay »t 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, cleared the Heads at 5.35 p.m., passed swan Island at noon next day, and experienced fresh eoath-west and westerly winds with heavy westerly swell the whole way aero is. Passed the Boland er at 6 p.m., and reached the Bluff at 11.30 p.m. on March 5; left at B p.m. next day, having landed 1(0 tons cargo and taken aboard 189 sheep; reached Port Chalmers at 6a m. on Ilsrch 7, landed 180 tons cargo, and left at 5.30 p.m., arriving in Lyttelton at 9 a.m. yesterday. Finn weather and light winds prevailed round the coast. The Arawata was moored at the screw-pile jetty, where she landed passengers, mails, ana 70 tons of cargo, together with 112 sheep.
