The wool sales have been postponed until Jan. 17, in consequence of the elections. The price of wheat is dropping, owing to large expected arrivals. America shipped half a million quarters during the past three weeks. Adelaide wheat is depressed, with few transactions. The present cosh quotations for Australian copper are £9l to £92. The tin market is heavy and unsettled, with receding quotations. Straits tin is now quoted at £115; Australian at £ll3. Flax is lower. The Conservative candidates are opposing the re-election of the Eight Hon W. E. Gladstone for Greenwich. The pollings for the elections will be general this week. The following members for Birmingham : The Right Hon John Bright, Messrs B, H. Muntz, and George Dixon, have been re-elected unopposed. The Dutch forces have captured Kratow.

iATEE NEWS. London, Feb. 1. General Wolsely and the British forces tinder his command reached the Eiver Prah on the Ist January. About an hour after his arrival he was met by ambassadors from the E*ng of Ashantee, bearing letters, asking for peace.
