CRICKET.

A match was played between the Midmont School (Mr Turroll’s) and the College Lower Club last Wednesday. The following are the scores:— Ms Tubbbll’s.

College won by seven wickets and two runs. A match was played at Raugiora, on Wednesday last, between an eleven of the Rangiora Junior Cricket Club and a similar number of the boys attending Mr Merton’s school. The R.J.C.C. team was captained by Master Fred. Bean, and the Melford House team by Master Charles Bailey. The result of the match was as follows :—Melford House team : first innings, 43; second innings, 42 ; total, 85. R.J.C.C.: first innings, 59; second innings, with 7 wickets down, 28; total, 87. The R.J.C.C. team therefore won the match. The match for Saturday next will be the return one between North and South. The following are the sides selected : North : Barker, Corfe, Dickenson, J. Fowler, Free, Moore, Nation, Reade, Reeder, Souter, Turner. Emergency—Asquith, Gresson. South: Barnes, A.' J. Gotterill, E. J. Ootterill, H. Cottenll, Oondell, Fuller, E. Fowler, Fraser, Gillman, Morgen, Ollivier. Emergency—Ddhoghue, Ffrost. Wickets Will be pitched at 1.45 p.m., play to commence at 2 sharp. A match will be played to-day on the Woolstoh cricket ground between the following elevens:—Heathcote Bowing Club, viz., P. Pavitt, W. 1. Taylor, O. A. dark, P. 0. Hombrook, J. W. Davis, C. P. S. Maundrell, A. 0. Watson, A. Beaumont, H. H.' Loughnan, L. M. Ollivier, G. Butcher, R. Dixon (reserve), against eleven chosen from the members of the Woolston Cricket dub. Judging from the teams being so evenly matched a good game is anticipated should the weather prove favourable.
