The symptoms are not sufficiently developed to enable the doctors to j udge. Hie Board of Health has resolved to use nil possible precautions. Wellington, Juno 27. The Independent says Mr Brogden’s contract for the Wellington end Wairaiapa railway has boon received. Hokitika, Juno 27. The body of Wilson, the gardener, has been found drowned. Post Chalmers, June 27. Arrived —Phoebe, from the North. [proit a correspondent.] Wellington, June 27. Mr Brogden’s tender for the first sectiort of the Hutt railway is below the parliamentary estimate. The Agent-General’s despatches by the mail announce the 8a ; ' : ig of the Helcione for WeUington, with 50 of Mr Brogden’s immigrants, 50 Scandinavian, pid 143 British. The ship Imedburg was to leave Hamburg on May 18, with a full complement of immigrants. The ship Hodwig was to leave Christiana early for Napier, with 325 rxunigrants; being part of 1200 sent for by the Superintendent of Napier for a special settlement in the Seventy-mile Bush. The Celestial Queen had left for Auckland, with 92 British immigrants. Advices have been received of the shipment of 6CD tons railway iron for Mr Brogden, also turntables and manes for the Clutha line. Arrangements have been made with Messrs Brogden for the passage of their labourers. The firm give promissory notes for £lO per head. This sum was fixed as the firm will have the exclusive use of the hr ’- grants’ services for some time. Dr Featherston asserts that the England’s passengers were carefr'”y examined and inspected before the ship’s departure.
