The s.s. Beautiful Star sailed for Dunedin and intermediate ports yesterday at 2 p.m. The s.s. Wellington, Captain Kennedy, arrived in harbour last night at 10 o clock from Wellington, and will sail for the south this day. The barque Pet, Captain Burch, came up to her anchorage yesterday afternoon. Sailed from Hobart Town on the 7th inst. with light weather and rain, which continued until Tuesday, when a strong gale from the S.S.W. sprang up, continuing for three days; came through Foveaux Straits on Monday last with strong breezes and hazy weather until arrival. We are indebted to Captain Burch for late papers. The s.s. Tararua, R. G. A. Pearce, commander, arrived from Melbourne via Hokitika, Greymouth, Nelson, and Wellington at 1.15 p.m. yesterday. She left Melbourne on the Bth inst. at 2 p.m., and passed the Sisters Island at 9.15 a.m. the following day, arriving off Hokitika at 11 a.m. on the 13th, after a splendid passage of four days 19 hours, having experienced strong south and south-west gales with heavy sea. Was tendered at Hokitika the same afternoon and the following morning, leaving for Greymouth at 4 p.m., and was tendered the same night; sailed for Nelson at 7 p.m., and arrived at 3pm. on the 15th; left Nelson at 5 p.m. on the 17th, experienced a strong south-east gale with heavy sea and thick weather, and arrived at Wellington at 9.30 a.m. on the 18th; left for Lyttelton on the 19th at 1 p.m.; had strong S.E. winds and heavy sea until passing Cape Campbell, afterwards moderate winds, arriving as above.

June 19—Beautiful Star, s.s., from Dunedin and intermediate ports, with—From Dunedin: 1 case clocks, 1 pkg drapery, 2 cases ironmongery, 1 bdl gorse hooks, 6 cases kerofine, 6 boxes candles, 1 keg nails, 2 bdles spnnyam, 1 pkg files, 1 case drapery, 6 cases ale, 2 kegs ale. From Oamaru; 20 sks wheat, 20 sks oats. From Tinmru: 4 sks wheat. SAILED. June 19—Beautiful Star, s.s., for Lyttelton, with part original cargo and 4 passengers.
