Election. Notices. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE COLERIDGE DISTRICT. Gentlemen, — IT being generally understood that a vacancy will shortly occur in the Representation of the District in the General Assembly, by the resignation of Mr Karslake, I have been requested by a number of the electors to again offer myself as a candidate. If I should have the honour of being your representative I would not be. pledged in any way to the present Ministry, but I should give them a general support as long as I found they continued to give a fair share of attention to Southern interests, and more especially to the interest of the Coleridge district, by giving increased facilities for the development of its coal and other minerals. I approve of the peaceful solution of the Native Difficulty, which has already done so much in restoring the confidence of English capitalists in New Zealand, and I look forward with hope to the extension of the direct trade to America as benefiting all classes of the community. I should, however, watch carefully any proposed alterations of the existing relations between the General and Provincial Governments, and should oppose any change in the provincial control of the Waste Lands. I shall have great pleasure in meeting the Electors at such times and places as may bo most convenient, to give any explanations that may be required as to my opinions on Education, Public Works, Immigration, or any other subject likely to engage the attention of the representatives at the approaching meeting of the General Assembly. I remain, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, GEORGE HART.
