CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

A general meeting of members was held at Tattersall’s, on Saturday last, at 2 p.m. Present —Messrs Wynn Williams (in the chair), Parker, Beaufort, Col. Packe, John Studholme, M. Studholme, F. W. Dejamain, and E. Griffith.

Messrs E. W. Millet and J. A. Douglas were elected members of the club.

A cheque for £lO 9s was handed in by Mr J. Ollivier, being amount of commission on sweeps conducted by that gentleman at the Grand Stand.

The Secretary (Mr C. J. Martin) was instructed to acknowledge the amount with thanks.

Mr F. W. Delamain proposed, and Mr E. Griffith seconded —“That in future for any walk-over only half the public money be paid to the winner.”

The motion was unanimously agreed to. It was moved by Mr Parker, and seconded by Mr Beaufort—“ That the Jockey Club, after inquiry, is satisfied that the discrepancy in the weight carried by Sir Tatton for the Selling Stakes, was not through any fault of the officials at the scales.”

The motion was carried unanimously. It was further resolved that a special meeting be called for Tuesday next, Nov. 14, at Tattersall’s, at 2 p.m., further to inquire into the matter of the discrepancy in the weights, and that Messrs Lunn and H. Prince he summoned to attend.
