Friday, June 19. (Before Mr Jußtice Gresson.) His Honor sat at the Court Chambers at 11 o'clock. THE QUXEN V. RICHARD PALMER. In this case the defendant pleaded guilty to a charge of embezzlement at Timaru. Mr Duncan now applied, under the 68th section of the Justices of the Peace Act, for an order for the payment of the preliminary eipenses of a witness, which had been certified by the Kesident Magistrate, Mr Woolcombe. His Honor made the order as prayed. TWENTYMAN T. WALTON AND ANOIHEE. His Honor eaid he was not quite prepared to give judgment in this case. He would do go on Tuesday next. CRAWFORD V. THE TIMARO LANDING SERVICE AHD SHIPPING COMPANY. This case was set down for argument on demurrer, but Mr Cowlishaw made application for postponement. Mr Harper thought bis Honor would agree with him that the case involved some very important questions of law j and although the other side would not consent to the course he thought it would effect a considerable saving in the expense if the case were made a special one for the Court of Appeal. Supposing his Honor gave judgment against his clients he would be obliged to bring the case to the Court of Appeal.

His Honor eaid that so far as he had seen on reading the papers there were numbers apparently of very difficult questions not likely to be set at rest by an'piling short of the Court of Appeal.
