E., from Newcastle, wa« signalled yesterday afternoon. The barque Southern Cross is discharging her cargo by lighters; this is owing to her being unable to obtain a berth alongside the wharf. Thb clipper schooner Canterbury, Captain Bowton, armed in harbour on Tuesday night, haying made the return passage from Wellington, and discharged her cargo, The Canterbury will load for Nelson. _ . The as Tararua, Captain Hagley, arrived in ! harbour yesterday at 8 am, from Wellington; she left on Tuesday night at 5 pm, making the passage under steam in 15 hours. The Tararua sailed for Dunedin and Melbourne yesterday at 6 p.m. Thb s.s. Ahuriri, Captain Flowerday, arrived in harbour yesterday, at 2.30 p.m., from Dunedin; left at 4.30 on Tuesday, with full cargo, for Northern Ports; experienced fine weather during the passage. June 10—Jupiter, ketch, Chapman, for Wanganui, with 1421 bushels wheat, W. D. Buddie. The schooner 'i'auranga, which arrived from the Bay of Islands yesterday morning, says that Captain Brown, at Rmsell, had received a letter from Captain M' Liver, stating that the schooner Blue Bell was wrecked at 4 o'clock on the morning of Saturday, the 23rd ultimo, off Flat Bock, near Whangaroa, and that she had a cargo from New Caledonia ami Norfolk Island, of cotton, cocoanut oil, and oranges. Captain M'Liver states that the night was very dark when the vessel was wrecked, and that he was under the impression he was sixteen miles from the coast. — Auckland Herald, June 1. The s.s. Kaikoura, Captain Darke, arrived at noon on the Cth, having cast off from the buoy at Sydney at 3.15 p.m. ot the Ist instant, and passed the Heads at 4.12 p.m. Experienced fresh S.E. winds for the first two days, after which strong southerly breeze and heavy sea until entering the Straits, Made the land at 10 p.m. on the sth; passed Cape Farewell at midnight, and Stephens Island at 4.30 a.m.; rounded Cape Terawiti at 10 a.m,, and entered the Heads at 11.23 a.m.; anchoring as above; thus making the passage in four days eighteen hours. Light E. and S.E. winds were met with in the Straits. At daylight on the morning of tho 6th, exchanged signals with the barque Edina, bound to the eastward.— Wellington Independent, June 9.
