MAIL NOTICES.
Mails per Otago, for the United Kingdom, the Continent of Europe, India, the Mediterranean Ports, the Australian Colonies, Otago, and Southland, will close at Chtistchurch at 1,30 p.m., and Lyttelton at 2.30 p.m., on Saturday, the 18th inst.
Money orders must be procured at Christchurch and Lyttelton before 4 p.m., on Friday, the 17th inst., and registered letters posted before noon on Saturday, the 18th inst.
Mails tor Sydney, Brisbane, and the Northern ports of New Zealand, will close at Christchurch at 11 a.m., and lyttelton at 12 noon, on Tuesday, the 21st inst.
Mails per Bangitoto, for Wellington, Nelson, and the Australian Colonies, will close at Christchurch at 11 a.m., and lyttelton at 12 noon, on Tuesday, the 21st inst.
[NoiB.-In the event of mail steamers not being to their contract time, supplementary mails are made up and despatched from Christchurch by the last train prior to the sailing of the vessels.]
_ The following new mail services and alterations m easting services come into operation on the Ist January, 1868:
Mails for Addingtonand Eiccarton will close daily at 9,45 a.m.
Mails for St Albans, daily, at noon. Mails for Weka Pass and Hurunui, three times weekly, at 8 a.m., Monday, Wednesday, and
Mails for Governor's Bay, twice weekly, in place of weekly, and will closo at Christohureh at 8,30 a.m,, on Monday and Saturday. n Mails for Upper Ferry, Eangitata, will close at Oran every Monday and Friday, at 9.30 a.m.
A Post-office will be opened at Geraldine, and mails for this office will close at Orari on Monday and Friday, at 9.30 a,m.
The Po:t-o(Bce at the Selwyn will be removed fromM'Donald's "Hotel to the Eailway Station. Mails will oloso at Christchurch at 8.30 a,m„ daily. ' A Post-office has been opened at tho Saw-mills, little Eiver.- Mails oloso", at Cbiistchurch every Monday, at 8,30 a.m;
On and after Wednesday, December the 11th the mails between lyttelton and Christchm'oh will be carried by railway. The mails will be thrice daily between Port and City, which, until further notice, will close at tho Chief Oflice at 8.30 a.m,, 11,30 a.m., and 4,80 p.m. The return mails will be sorted into the Christohureh private boxes at 10.45 a.m., 1.45 p.m., and 6,46 p.m. lne daily deliveries by the letter carriers will commencoatlla,m.and 2 p.m. At lyttelton the mails for Christchurch will close at 9.80 a.m. 12.30 p.m, and 6.30 p.m. Tho return mails will be sorted into the pnvato boxcß at 0.80 a,m,. 12.80 p.m., and 6.30 p.m. The Lyttelton Letter Carrier will commence his delivery at 9.45 a,m and 12,45 p.m.
On the same date, tho Post-office at the Ileath. cote Valley will bo moved to the Eailway Btation, Heathcoto Valley. Tiema'lsfor this oflice will close at Christchurch at 8,80 a,m,, and at Lyttelton a 9.30 a.m. At the Station, the mails for Ohristohurch will close at lp.m., and for Lyttolton at noon. Tho Post-office at Ferry Mead Station will be closed.
