The Customs revenue collected at Lytlelton this day amounted to £52 7s 2d. The following is an abstract of the quantity of land sold at the Waste lands office today;—Up erChrißteliuri:h,2o acres; llakaia, 30 do. Total, 50 acres, realizing, £IOO The Home News of Kept. 2 remarks on the wool market : Since the commencement of this series of sales the following quantities have passed the hammer :—Sydney, 7316 bales; Victoria, 10,505; South Australian, 1708; Tasmania, 2127; New Zealand, 11,461;. Gape, 6112; t0ta1,39,289. We have had only a moderate attendanco of buyers, and the biddings, although tolo ably well maintained, have been extremely cautious. As a rule the closing rates of June have not been maintained, especially for wools in tho grcaso, which are decidedly easier. Washed fleece and ecoured may ba quoted about tho same as the avnrago rates of last curios. Lambs' wool is rather dearer. Tho state of tho woollen trade on the Continent is fur from satisfactory, and we cannot expect that tho purchases on foreign account ivill bo nearly so extensive as Ihey were in June. The effects of a good harvest at home may liavo ti favourable influence on this market, but wu do not anticipate any upward movement in prices for somo timetocomo, Tho great commercial panic of last year, bo liltlo felt, comparatively, at the time, in our trade, is oven, now exorcising an unfavourable influenco, and its effects must have time to wear themselves out. The woe j urnul reports on the corn market as follows -, Wheat is 2s lower than at last report. At last market, August 29, the consumptive demand was limited, at a further declin<> of Is per quarter, Country flour, 13,203 sacks; foreign, 4191 sacks 8448 barrels. Country flour was dull, and Is lower to sell. The barrels from Amorica aro of poor quality,. All foreign is much negleotod, and in favour of buyers, Maize bos sold at previous

rates. Tho quantity of now barloy is as yet limited.jand prices of English and foroigii well maintained. Tho malt trade is quite in calm, with priooi tonding downward'*. English) oats, notwithstanding a moderate demand for Franco, aro dull, and rather in buyors' favour. No change of values is stated in peas or beans, but the demand is good for white. Linsoed, only 810 quarters; oiports, 820 quarters, In clover seed scarcely anything has boon done, the accounts from France having improved.
