COMMERCIAL.
The following is an abstract of the quantity of land, sold in the various districts, at the Waste Lands Office yesterday: Oxford district, 60' acres; Ashburton, 1. Total, 61 acres, realising £122.
Wellington.—The Independent of Feb. 13 reports;—
During the.past month, business of all kindshas been extremely dull, the markets generally being much overstocked. Prices remain almost unaltered, and shew little sign of a change. Teas are steady, fine congous being quoted at £2 8s to £2los per chest; medium to good,.at £2 2s to £2 7s; Spies of scented orange pekoe fetch £ll6s to £2 2s. The market is overstocked with crashed sugars, and prices rule low; of other kinds stocks are full, and prices remain Unaltered from last quotations. Mauritius Ist crystals are quoted at £54 to £56; Company's No. 1 pieces, £solos to £52105. Malt liquors have experienced a slight decline; 'Bass' is quoted at i'Oi to 10s 6dper dpz quarts; Allsopp's, 10s 6d tollsod; Ind Coope and Co.'s, 10s 6d to lis 6d. Brandies have also fallen slightly, large, stocks having come to hand per Commodore, and Marietta barely fetches a iuffieient price to cover expenses. In salt we notice a slight decline in the best kinds; but inferior sorts remain at the old prices.
