THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT invite Tenders for the Construction of about Two and a half miles, more or less, of the West Coaßt Road, between the Kowai and Porter's Pass. THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT will, until further notice, provide FREE PASSAGES for SINGLE WOMEN, between the ages of 12 and 40, emigrating from England to Canterbury, in ships under contract with the Provincial Government. Married women and children will be charged at the usual rates. The passages of male emigrants will be charged for at the rate of £U per statute adult, on approved bills, payable thirty days after sight, or 10 per cent discount for cash payment. NOTICE. I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE pursuant to the provisions of The Lost Licences and Leases Act, 1865, that application has been made to me as Commissioner under the said Act, for a certified copy of Pasturage Licence No. 96, class 3, 10,000 acres, issued originally to Messrs. Aylmer and Percival, on the Ist day of February, 1861', and declared by them ' to hare been lost. The licence is to depasture 10,000 acres of the Waste Lands of the Crown, situate as follows:— On the South bank of the Eiver Selwyn, commencing at the 14th mile post, on the Hororata, extending up the river to near the 17th mile post, and extending back South by compass, about 5£ miles. If any person can shew cause why such certified copy should not be issued, the same must be made known to me at the Land Office, Christchurch, within one month from the date hereof. THE following clauses from the "Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1864," are published for the information of holders of depasturing licences within the province, of Canterbury. Clause 3. " If any holder of a depasturing license shall at any time before the first day of May 1866 give notice to the Waste Lands Board at Christchurch that he is desirous of holding his license subject to the fees provided by this Act such license shall on and from such date be subject to such fees but this Act shall have no effect with regard to any licenses in respect of which such notice shall not have been given before the said first day of May 1866." Clause 4. " The Annual fees to be paid in respect of any depasturing licence held under the provisions of this Act shall be as follows: " From the first day of May 1866 until the first day of May 1873. For every run containing less than one thousand acres two pounds sterling for every hundred acres. For every run containing one thousand acres and less than five thousand acresonepound thirteen shillings and four pence sterling per hundred acres for the first thousand acres and sixteen shillings and eight pence sterling for every hundred acres in addition. For every run containing five thousand acres of upwards twelve shillings and sixpence sterling for every hundred acres." I " On and after the first day of May i 873 and until the first day of May 1880. " For every run containing less than one thousand acres three pounds four shillings sterling for every hundred acres." " For every run containing one thousand acres and less than fire thousand acres two pounds thirteen shillings and four pence sterling per hundred acres for the fit st one thousand acres and one pound six shillings and eight pence sterling for every hundred acres in addition." "For every run containing five thou* sand acres or upwards one pound ' sterling for every hundred acres." A Book is provided in the Board Room of ' the Land office, Christchurch, in which parties desirous of availing themselves of the ! provisions of the above Act, are required to ; enter their names, by way of giving the required notice to the Waste Land Board pre- ' vious to first of May 1866.
