LYTTELTON.
Tdbsday, Dec. 10. (Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.) A number of civil cases woro heard this day of no interest to tlio public. Several persons had allowed themselves to be summonsed for non-pay-ment of the town rates; the majority of cases were given in favour of plaintiffs, with costs. A man, who gavo his name as Fulloon, an alleged lunatic, was ordered, upon the evidence of Drs. Rouse and Mottley, to be taken care of at Sunnyaide Asylum. William Smith was charged with stealing rails, of the value of 25., tho property of Mr. William Oldfield, of Brenchley farm. After hearing very conflicting cvidonce, and it being proved that tho rails belonged to a neighbour of prosecutor's, the case was dismissed.
