Th* Albion arrived at 6.30 last night. She left Wellington at 4on Wednesday morning. She sails for Dunedin at 2 p.m. this day. We are indebted to the purser for files of Melbourne and West Coast papers. The Lokd Ashley left Auckland Sept. 4th, at 1 p.m.; arrived at Napier 12.50 a.m. on the 6th, thus making the passage in less than 36 hours —the quickest on record. Left Napier at noon of the 7th; arrived at Wellington at 10.30 a.m. of the Bth— hours. Had light northerly winds to Cape Palliser; thence to Wellington, a heavy N.W. galft, with rain, barometer falling; midnight of the Bth, barometer 29.40, wind shifted suddenly from N.W. to S.E., blowing very hard. During the 9th the wind increased to a gale of unusual strength, with constant rain, such weather continuing until the 11th, when the gale gradually subsided. The steamers Wellington, lor West Coast, and the Airedale, for Napier—the latter having on board nearly 300 officers and men, 70th Begiment —could not leave Wellington until the 11th, on account of the violence of the Sle. The Albion arrived at Wellington from elbourne, via Hokitika and Nelson. She reports the arrival of the Egmont at Nelson, fiom Lyttelton, bound to Hokitika. The Lord Ashley left Wellington at 10 a.m. of the 12th; arrived at Lyttelton on the 13th, at 4.20 a.m. —12 hours 20 minutes, including 1£ hour's detention outside. Hokitika.—The following vessels were in the portot Hokitika on Sept. 7th:—Advance, cutter . lona, schooner; Sisters, schooner; City of Nelson,] do; Lady of the Lake, p.s.; TJno, s.s., al from the" Grey; Leonidas, brigantine; Florence, schooner; Katberaw, do ; Yarra, p.s., from Melbourne ; Dolphin, schooner; Phoenix, do ; United Brothers, do; Wild Wave, do; Three Sisters ; Lloyd's Herald, ketch, from Dunedin; Minnie, do, trom Nelson; the Australian Maid, cutter, from Lyttelton; and Wallace, from Christchurch and Nelson.

The O.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Albion, Captain M'Lachlan, from "Melbourne, Hokitika, and Nelson, arrived in this port at 50 minutes to 1 o'clock this morning. By her we lea.rn that the P.N.Z. and A.R.M. Company's s.s. Egmont put into Nelson on the forenoon of Sunday, having something wrong with her machinery. The Egmont is to undergo repairs, and proceed to Hokitika. The s.s. Auckland, from Taranaki and Auckland, arrived at Nelson while the Albion was there. We regret to say that, during her trip from Taranaki, she fell in with a heavy S.E. gale. On {he afternoon of Saturday last a seaman was washed off the deck by a heavy sea. The captain's cabin windows were both broken in; two men at the wheel were seriously injured by being thrown over it, and two blown from the fore-yard on to the deck. — Wellington Independent, Sept. 12.
