MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

CHEISTCHUECH.—Tuesday, Jvly 25. (Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., KM.) Bbbach op Sheep Obdisakce. — Duncan Cameron was charged with a breach of this Ordinance. There being no appearance of the Inspector of Sheep, the case was dismissed. Lamest.—John Williams, alias John Jones, was charged with this .offence. It appears that several robberies have lately taken place from the shops in Christchurch, and Detective M'Elroy having reason to suspect that the prisoner was concerned in some of them, succeeded in effecting his capture. There were fire cases against him, the first heard being that of a theft committed in the shop of Mr. Boach, tobacconist, in Colombo street. On this chaige he was committed for trial. Another was that of having stolen some property from the premises of Messrs. Stringer and Co. [the prisoner was committed for trial on this charge also. On the application of the inspector, the prisoner was remanded, in order that further investigations might be made into the other cases.
