GENTLEMEN —Being a Candidate for the Appointment of Surgeon to the Christchurch Hospital, I beg leave to submit the following testimonials with regard to my practice in New Zealand. COURTNEY NEDWILL, M.D. Christchurch, April 25, 1864. I have much pleasure in bearing my testimony to the skill and attainments of Dr. Courtney Nedwill. whom I have been intimately acquainted with since October, 1862, and who, on my passage out from England in the Chariot of Fame, was in medical charge of the large number of emigrants on board. During this period, and since his arrival in New Zealand, 1 have had many opportunities of witnessing his skill in the treatment of disease, and feel no hesitation in stating that he has a perfect knowledge of his profession—practical, as well as theoretical— whilst his uniform kindness and attention, peculiarly fit him for the office for which he is a candidate. William Deamef, MD. Kaiapoi, 25th April, 1864. I)r. Nedwill—Dear Sir—l have much pleasure in bearing my testimony to your skill as a Surgeon, and general professional attainments, and feel confident that should you be elected Surgeon to the Christchurch Hospital, you will do justice to your trust, and realise the expectations of the Governors. I am, dear Sir, Yours, faithfully S. Beswick, Surgeon. Rangiora, April 22, 1864. My Dear Dr. Nedwill—lt affords me real pleasure to testify the very general—l might say, universal— estimation, in which you were held during your residence at Rangiora. Your leaving the district was felt to be a public loss, as the inhabitants had the highest confidence in you as a Medical Practitioner, and esteemed you greatly for your private virtues. Believe me, Ever sincerely yours, 5649 B. W. Dudley.
