PELORUS GOLD FIELDS.

The Marlborough Press of the 10th inst., states til the steamer left Nelson there were several digge on the qui vive, and on the eve of starting for t land of promise, a small vessel had also been laid < for Havelock. The indicated locality possesses eve reasonable facility of approach from all portions the province. From Picton the easiest and mo accessible route for parties visiting the Wakamarii would be first by boat to the Grove, a distance < about eight miles, thenae overland along for tl greater portion of the distance a good bridle trac to Havelock about eleven miles, and from Haveloc to the crossing place in the Wakamarina river, tl distance would be about seven and a half miles fu ther, whilst six miles further up the river would I about the spot where Wilson's party was working. From Blenheim there is a good sound bridle trac the whole distance to the Wakamarina river, foilov ing the overland route through the Kaituna valle to Nelson. The distance by this route would t about 42 miles. The nature of the country in the locality indicj ted where the gold was discovered is nearly all busl while the land is hilly, but not to such an extent a to prevent, we understand with little difficulty, th cutting of a good bridle track that might be used b pack horses. Doubtless) before this there are a considerabl number of diggers from Nelson, and other parts already at work.
