RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Lyttelton, May 18. (Before Wm. Donald, Esq., R.M.) A seaman from the brig Yarrow was sent to jail for seven days for refusing to do duty on Sunday last. The brig arrived from Wellington with cattle on Saturday, and it was found imperative that they should be landed on Sunday. Tuesday, May 19. The Court was occupied in hearing two or three debt cases. Stott v. Lewis.—Claim of £3 5s for board, &c. Adjourned till June 2, for the production of further evidence. Julian v. Kay.—Claim of £16 for ale. Judgment for plaintiff. The other cases were settled out of court.
