NEW TOWNSHIP ON THE NORTH BANK OF THE ASHLEST. THE TOWN OF ASHLEY. MESSRS. J. OLLIYIER & SON have received instructions to offer for sale by public auction, on SATURDAY, SEPT. 6, at noon, The sections remaining unsold in the above township. This town is situate on the north bank of the Ashley, on the direct Rangiora and North roads from Christchurch, and at the junction of the main roads to the large agricultural districts to the north. The necessity of this town has been for some time felt in the wane of a centre for this large and thriving district, which is shown by the greater part of the sections having been already taken up by the residents and owners of land in the district. It is well watered and forms the natural market of the district. - The herds of flocks from the north come past this town, and thus create a centre for the sale of the large number of cattle proceeding to the south. Buildings are already contracted for by purchasers, viz, a large hotel, blacksmith's shop, butcher's shop, and several other stores —thus affording the best possible evidence of the requirements ot the district. The remaining sections will be offered for sale, at the upset price of £10 10s per quarter acre, and on very liberal terms. The auctioneers desire to give notice that their public sales of this township will be strictly limited to this sale; after which time the sections remaining unsold will be offered by private treaty but at increased prices. Plans of the town may be seen at the offices of Messrs. Johnston and Williams, and at the offices of the auctioneers, from whom full particulars may be obtained, and to whom applications for sections must be made. 3054 Offices, Cashel and High streets.
