In case the said disease, or any disease which, JLI fSynLP^TS' S, hall bear affinity or resemblance thereto, shall break out amongst cattle in any part *Lf*\ pr?vmce' ,ifc- shali be lawful for the Superintendent, by notice published in the 'Provincial Wernment Gazette,' to proclaim and fix a district including that part of the province in which such disease shall have broken out, to be an infected district, and to prohibit and prevent the driving or removing of any cattle from the said proclaimed district into any part of this province, or from any otner part of this province into the said proclaimed district, and to take all necessary and effectual means for preventing the driving or removing of au cattle from such proclaimed district into any otper part of this province, or from any other part or this province into the said proclaimed district; and it any person shall, after the publication of such notice, drive or remove, or cause to be driven or removed, any cattle from such proclaimed district into any other part of this province, or shall drive o ™' °r cause to te dr'ven or removed, any cattle trom any other part of this province into such proclaimed district, he shall, for every such offence, $ torieit and pay any sum not exceeding £100, to be recovered m a summary way in manner aforesaid; ana tor more effectually preventing the spread of infectious diseases amongst cattle in this province, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to cause cattle suspected to be diseased to be destroyed, and their carcases to be burned, buried, or otherwise disposed of as he may think fit j and to make to the owner or owners of any cattle, which he shall so. cause to be destroyed, compensation after the rates following, that is to say, for cattle under two years Of age, any sum not exceeding £3 per head; and tor cattle above that age, any sura not exceeding £<3 per head.
6. It shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by notice published in the 'Provincial Government gazette, from time to time to alter the boundaries ot an> proclaimed district, and to cause any such district to cease to be a proclaimed district. 7 The word 'cattle' in this ordinance shall mll? 6 ml 6 °r more bul1 ' cow» heifer > os» steer' or eair. ihe word 'person' shall include several persons, both male and female. 8. This ordinance shall be cited and referred to as the Diseased Cattle Bill, 1861."
