The I.C.R.M.Co's steamer Airedale arrived yesterday morning from Otago, and left for Wellington at 3 o'clock in the afternoon of the same day. She was detained in Port Chalmers behind her intended time of leaving by the violence of the gale from the eastward, which raised such a sea on the bar as it would have been dangerous for any boat to encounter. After leaving the port, on Wednesday morning when it fell calm, a thick fog settled down, and Captain Johns was unable to make the peninsula until Thursday evening, when the weather was still too thick to permit him to enter during the dark hours. There is but little news from Dunedin.
