Local Intelligence.

The conveyance of the weekly mail to Akaroa has been resumed by the Canterbury Steam Navigation Company, who now run their steamer Planet to Pigeon Bay every Wednesday morning, returning the same afternoon. The inwards mail is brought overland the same morning from Akaroa and exchanged with the steamer for the outward bag. This arrangement commenced last Wednesday, when the Planet took, a large number >of passengers, most of whom were on their way to visit and spend some days at Akaroa.

By the Ocean Queen from Wellington we1 have one later paper from that province, and a file from Auckland and Hawkes Bay, in neither of which is there fres.h intelligence from Taranaki. The local news will appear in our next issue.
