The Dart left Sydney on the 26th ulto., and reached Nelson after a twelve days' passage ; left again on Friday last, and reached this port' on Sunday night. She has on board eight horses and a general cargo, comprising amongst other things some teas. The Dart brings later advices from the Australian : Colonies^ and Captain Jenkins has favoured.us withthe latest papers from Sydney and Nelson, -but we do not find in them much; news of importance. , . „; ■ „ :

The screw steamer Oberon, owned by Messrs. Macandrew and Co., of Otago, paid her first visit to this'port on Monday. She is a neat little boat, measuring about 70 tons register, exclusive of engine room, and' is . propelled 'by two engines of combined 25 horse power,; condensing. She is 100 feet long, and 19 feet greatest breadth. She was bought at Hobarton, whenceshe used to ply up the West Coast of Tasmania; She was built in 1854 at Dumbarton, by William'Denny, and her engines'; are of Glasgow manufacture. She seems well adapted for the trade between Dunedin and this port, calling at Moeraki, Waikouaite, Oaniaru, Timaru and Akaroa, for which service we understand that she is specially intended ; but we believe that she will ply also up to Wellington and down to the Bluff. She can stow 80 tons dead weight forward, and then draw only 6 feet 6 inches of water. In favorable weather she "can'steam 8 knots; coming up the coast, against a strong head wind and a heavy sea, she made 5\ knots. She,left Port Chalmers on Friday, Moeraki and Oamaru the same day ; took in 62 bales of vyool, at Timaru on Saturday, whence she got away that evening and reached pur port at 9 p.m. on Sunday. She sailed for Wellington yesterday.
