CHURCH PROPERTY TRUST.

A, meeting: of the Church Property Trustees was held in the College Library, Cashes-street, on Monday, the Ist inst. Present—The Bishop of Christchurch, the Reverends W. W. Willock, Jas. Wilson, P. Knowles, C. Bowen, and Messrs. Winter, Bayfeild, Miles, Murray. Thomson, Scott, Cj Bowen, Donald, Ollivier, Scott and Packer. After prayers had beer, read by the Bishop, the minutes of the last,meeting.were read,by the Secietary and confirmed. The Secretary then presented to the meeting tlic written opinion of Mr. C. W. Wyatt on the proposed bill for alienating certain portions of the Church Estate in this provincein order to obtain funds for the erection of parsonage houses. The opinion seemed to set forth that the ordinance sought was unnecessary, inasmuch as r the Church .Property Trustees were already possessed, under authority of the original ordinance, of full power to effect the proposed sales,,of Church Jand for purposes not other than strictly ecclesiastical. Mr. Wyatt, however, having been instructed to prepare the bill and give the necessary notices, had done so. It was then moved by the Rev. J. Wilson,, and seconded by Mr. Bowen, r and carried—That Mr. Wyatt's opinion be entered on the minutes, of the meeting. Mr. Thomson then moved—That the steps taken by the managing committee in the matter of the proposed ordinance be approved.by the meeting. Seconded by Mr. Bayfeild, and carried-. . The third resolution, moved by [Rev. J. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Thomson, and. carried, was— " That out of the first moneys accruing from the sale of lands, it be a recommendation to the managing committee to reserve the sum of £500 tor reinvestment, so soon.' as a favorable opportunity shall occur," The accounts of the Treasurer' were then produced, and after a lengthy examination and prolonged discussion thereupon, Mr. Thomson moved— " That the accounts be remitted to the managing committee for publication, with the omission of all matters not referring to the Trust Estate." , Seconded by Rev. J.,AVilson, and carried. The .business before the meeting here terminated, and the meeting adjourned.
