OtJE papers from this province are to the 9th inst. They contain but liitld news, sufficient only" for furnishing the two paragraphs which we append:—
The JiOAD to Auckland. —The ITon. C. W. Richmond, attended by iYlr.Parris and the Provincial Surveyor, left town on Wednesday for Paranihinihi to make the preliminary arrangements for an overland road to Auckland, to promote the establishment of which it is well known the General Government has for some time past been negotiating, but till lately with little suec.-ss, owing it is believed in a great measure to difficulties occasioned by the native feuds in our district. The regularity and despatch with which the overland mail service can be performed between Wellington and New Plymouth via Wangnnui renders the formation of a bridle path to Auckland indispensable, ami we trust there will be found no natural, difficulties to prevent the iroporknfcsettlements on the west coast being brought within easy reach of the seat of government by a good and safe road.— lferctM, April 9. The Ikon Okk.-^Wg understand that Captain Morslioacl h:w arranged to leave ii) the Shamrock. The olije.t of this.: genb'eman'n vis;t to.Kngtand is the formation of a company to smMt the irou, ore which lies in such extraordinary profusion on our beach, and he takes with him the ncepss.try documents for.thai purpose; consisting of teases of the beach and the waste lauds adjacent thereto, executed in his -favour by both tlio Ueuerd. and Provincial
Governments. The terms upon which the mineral is let are most liberal, and are such as to aft'ord the utmost encouragement to Capfc. .Morshead's enterprise compatible with the interests of the province. — Ibid.
