It is my hope,'and will be my object, if; elected, to take part in these duties with advantage to our town and to the province, and to use my best judgment in determining rightly such other questions as may come before the Council for decision. (^ ENTLEMEN,—Had I received a vT timely intimation of the vacancy which has just occurred in the Avon 'Electoral District, in consequence of Mr. Woodford's resignation of his seat in the Provincial Council, I should have offered myself to your notice as his successor. As I how find there are already ! two candidates in the field, and that a majority of your votes are pledged, I shall not on the present occasion solicit your suffrages ;\ but whenever an opportunity may again present itself, I shall venture to obtrude myself upon your notice, and I trust that a residence of six years in the settlement,- combined with a personal and practical acquaintance with its agricultural and. pastoral interests will acquit me of any undue presumption in seeking the honor of becoming one of your representatives.
