LATEST ENGLISH COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

The 'Home News' says, under date June 16:— " Still no change in our Money Market. The Bank rate stands at 3 per cent. Good two and three months' bills continue to be done at 2£ to 2f per cent., and longer dated paper at 4 to 4£ per cent. There is comparatively little demand for money for commercial purposes; trade keeps very quiet; prices fall rather than rise; the supply of unemployed floating capital daily increases; and the year 1858 will, we think, illustrate most clearly the very slight influence which a low rate of interest exercises on prices.

" Consols have further declined, and the market closes rather sensitive. The influences operating unfavorably are:—l. The chances of some untoward collision off Cuba, owing to the number of evil agents who -will hope to find their account in creating a breach between England and America; 2. The intelligence from Paris of the increased rigour of the measures adopted to prevent the circulation of foreign journals, and of that excessive military and naval preparations making by the Emperor; 3. The news of the spread of the insurrection against the authority of Turkey in Candia, consequent upon the success of the policy pursued towards her with regartl to Montenegro; and 4. The withdrawal of a large amount of. gold from the bank for transmission to the continent, together with the prospect that any new arrivals will for the present be sent to the same destination. The same causes have l^d more or less to a depression in all other securities."
