TURKEY.

•Hostilities had broken out between the Turks - and Montenegrins, and the latter were reported ■to have gained some important advantages. There were apprehensions that the Austrians would interfere on the part of the Montenegrins, -and that in such event the other powers would be compromised. France is very angry at Turkey, and there seems to be a probability of an overtlu*ow of the last treaty, and plunge the •European powers again into new complications. England proposes commissioners to draw up a territorial settlement "having for its basis the status quo existing at the time of the Congress of Paris." It is hoped that all the powers will agree to so moderate a proposal. The 'Times' gives the following telegram, dated Vienna (May 13), afternoon: —" There has been a battle at Grahovo, between the Turks on one side and the Montenegrins and the Heryerajahs on the other. Tiie latter had 50 ! men killed and 70 wounded. The loss of the Turks is not known. Grahovo was burnt by its inhabitants."
