GENTLEMEN, —When I first stood forward (at your request) as a candidate for the honour of representing you in the Provincial Council, you may recollect I stated to jouniy fears, that my duty towards you would I interfere with mv clerical duties. Those fears j have now been fully realzed, the difficulty <>f providing1 a siii.stitute, during1 my absence at the Council, becomiug every day greater, 1 beg, therefore, forthwith to resign the trust, when I cannot perform its duties to your benefit or my own satisfaction.
