LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT. Monday, Oct. 29. — Frederick Graham, fined 20s. for being drunk and disorderly. — Wm. Winnecott and Alexander Cairncross, fined, 10s. each, for the same offence. — Antoni Grimaldi, drunk and 'assaulting tbe constable, fined £6, in default of payment 2 months imprisonment. — William Norman, reprimanded for being drunk. Oct. 31.— George Francis Scott was summoned by the landing waiter of this port, directed by the Collector of Customs, for illegally harbouring and keeping on his premises a certain parcel, or goods, kno.vinc; the same to have been landed without payment of 'duty. Mr. Hamilton who appeared lor the Customs, stated that he had no wish to rpress the preseut case, but only hoped the publicity would prevent other parties practising similar offences against the Customs' laws. Mr. Dumpier having addressed the magistrate on the part if the defendant, the case was dismissed. Had a conviction been pressed the fine would have amounted to £300.
