PUBLIC CAUTION. rpHE Public of Canterbury .are hereby -*■ cautioned that Emery Malinanche, of Akaroa, is about to offer in Chvistcburch, Lyttelton, and other pans, sundry Asses for sale. These asses were placed in his charge by Commodore Berard, underwritten instructions, which made him their guardian until their increase was sufficient for each one of the original French settlers to have one. I hereby protest against such sale, if effected, and warn all those who may meddle, that I have instructed my solicitor" to proceed against the seller as a fraudulent person, and a trustee robbing me of my rights. • Jac ob Waekerle, Original French Colonist June 30, 1855.
