A NOTICE having appeared in the " Go-J-jL vernraent Gazette," dated the 27th November, 1854, warning1 all persons not to encroach,on the land reserved for public roads, by digging ditch ts, or erecting banks thereon ; and representations having been made to the Government by persons desirous of fencing in lands irontinsr on the public roads, that they are willing to erect such fences as shall tend to impiove the public road adjoining : His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be further notified, that ,my person, who is desirous of erecting a fence on the boundary of a public road, may, by application to the Government, receive an order in writing from the Provincial Engineer, stating what alterations he will be allowed to make in the surface of the land reserved for the road adjoining bis fence; and that any person encroaching on the public road by taking any soil therefrom, or erecting any bank thereon, except so far as shall be set forth in such written order, will'be prosecuted as the law directs.
