To stand this Season, AT the Mabket-Pjlace, Christchurcb, the Fine Young Thorough-bred Horse, "JOE MILLER," by Jersey out of Miss Miller, (own brother to Phoenix, half brother to Bay Middleton, winner of the Derby) by Buzzard out of Cobweb, (winner of the Oaks) by Phantom out of Filagree, by Soothsayer, Webby Waxy, &c, [vide Stud Book,} Miss Miller, by Wanderer out of an Arab mare, imported into V.D.L., by Captain Stewart of that Colony; Wanderer (bred by Lord Egremont) by Trump out of a Blacklock mare, her dam Camerton's dam by Precipitate, &c, [vide Stud Book.^ This promising young horse is now rising five years old, perfectly quiet, free from vice or blemish, stands 16 hands high, a rich dark chesnut. To Stand this Season, At the Royal Hotel, Christchurch, rpHE thorough bred horse " LEADING X ARTICLE," by Sir Charles out of Brunette. " Leading Article "is a beautiful Dark Brown Horse, free from white, »"w rising six years old, with an excellent constitution. " Leading Article,' was foaled «t Nelson, where he won the Leger in 1852, beating Mr. Timlin's Gipsey Queen, and on the following day, the Ladies' Purse, beating Mr. Newcomb's mare Vesta, and Mr. Godfrey* horse Silver Tail, Leading Article carrying 13 lbs. over weight: distance, one mile and 3CO yards; run in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Leading Article was trained for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favourite for t»e Victualler's Purse of 3 miles against Mr. Redwood's celebrated horse Glaucus, and Mr. Newcomb's horse Joe Miller, but broke down in the race through an injury he had sustained in the Fetlock joint, notwithstanding, running a gooa second with Glaucus. , Terms, £o ss. each mare, payable the 4th oi January.
