The Lyttelton Times. Saturday, November 18, 1854.

We have postponed the full report of the Provincial Council's proceedings till Wednesday, in order to publish as much as possible of the European intelligence received by the " Ashmore." For the same reason further local intelligence has been necessarily omitted. The following is a short summary of the business transacted by the Provincial Council. On Tuesday the Provincial Council Extension Ordinance was re-committed in order to make a trifling verbal amendment. Most of the clauses of the amended Scab and Catarrh Ordinance passed through Committee. £2076 13s. lid. was voted for various Public Works, Government -promising that an experienced engineer should be appointed to superintend them. On Thui-sday the Provincial Council Extension Bill was again re-committed, and a slight alteration made in the Schedule. The Amended Scab and Catarrh Ordinance and the Auctioneers' Licensing Bill passed through Committee.
