Steam Communication.—We would request the attention of our readers to an advertisement in this day's paper, calling meetings at Lyttelton and Chvistchurch, to promote the formation of a Steam Boat Company to traffic along the coasts of this Province. Such a|scheme would tend materially to remedy the present lack ot communication between our scattered townships, and even when a line of road is completed and in use, it would prove a valuable auxiliary to our carrying trade. ' Death by Drowning.—An Inquest was held on Monday at » The Travellers- Home, Biccarton, on the body of Sarah Day, who destroyed herself by drowning in the Avon on Friday last. The evidence shewed that the deceased was subject to periodical attacks ot headache and congestion, that she was at sued times excessively irritable, and had frequently threatened self-destruction upon the slightest annovauce, even such as having to reprove her children.
