J. E. TgACKEB. To Stand this Season. A T the Royal Hotel Ghristchurch, the •£*- thorough bred lurse "LEADING ARTICLE" by Sir Charles, out of Brunette. " Leading Article " is a handsome dark brown horse, free from white, now rising six years old with an excellent constitution. Leading Article was foaled at Nelson, where he won the Leger in 1852, beating Mr. Timlin's Gipsey Queen, and on the following year, the Ladies' purse,beating Mr. Godfrey's horse Silvertail, and Mr. Newcome's mare Vesta/ Leading Article carrying 131bs over weight: distance one mile 366 yards, run in 2m. 21s. Leading Article was trained for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favorite for the Victualler's purse, 3 miles, against Mr. Eedwood's celebrated horse Glaucus, and Mr. Newcome's horse Joe Miller, but broke down in the race through an injury he had sustained in the fetlock; notwithstanding, running a good second with Glaucus. Terms, £b 55., a mare. Leading Article will be limited to 30 mares. Parties wishing to put mares to him, will please to make early applications as he will not exceed the above stated number of mares.
