There is a further sum of £29 18s. 9d. statement published in the " Gazette" of the in the hands of the Sub-Treasurer at Akaroa, 26th January last by £3 Os. 10d., which com- advanced from the Customs Department at prised certain advances made by the General Akaroa, to be refunded to the Collector at LytGovernment at Akaroa, since repaid by the Pro- telton. Imports and Exports.—The returns of imports and exports for the year ending Dec. 31, 1853, give:— Imports at £75,863 16s. 6d., shewing an increase of over £23,000 on the preceding year: the value of the exports is stated at £3,396, as compared with £2,751 18s. 4d. in 1852. The exports of articles the produce of this Province, amount to £3,337, exclusive of wool, which i 0 estimated at£ 14,000, making a total of £17,337; those of 1852, exclusive of wool likewise, was £505. • Customs.—The duties collected under colonial authority, at the Ports of this Province, amounted to £5,821 11s. Bd. in the year ending Dec. 31,1853, as compared with £4,791 3s. 5d., in 1852 : the expenditure in 1853 was £811 19s. lOd.; in 1852, £798 18s. 6d.

In the Quarter ending 31st March, 1854. Compiled from the Periodical Returns furnished by the heads of the several Departments.
Crown Lands: The sum of £16,507 10s. has been deposited with the Commissioner during the Quarter ended 31st March, by applicants for land, which sura will not be brought to account till the sales are completed. Harbor Department: Pilotage (a) £32 0 0 (a) The whole of the Pilotage up to £50 is received by the Harbor-Master. This amount does not therefore appear in the receipts of Provincial.Revenue.
